Founded in 1994 MBN Nanomaterialia (www.mbn.it) is a producer of nanostructured powder materials trough a proprietary mechano-chemical synthesis process technology (Mechanomade®). With an installed industrial production capacity of more than 100 ton/range on 8 production plants, MBN is offering to the market innovative materials that are utilized in powder metallurgy, spraying and laser deposition processes. Typical output of the process is constituted by agglomerated powders in the micron-size range (i.e. 5-100μm) constituted by aggregates of nanocrystals and nanoparticles (i.e. <100nm). The powder materials produced find application in a number of manufacturing chains as, conventional and fast sintering, AM laser sintering and coating deposition

Involvement in the project:

MBN will coordinate the project as well as produce the newly developed CCMs powders by Mechanical Alloying as well as performing the High Velocity Air Fuel (HVAF) spray.

Involvement in the project:

Çimsa will be involved as cement manufacturer and user in the testing of optimised CCA coatings for mechanical damage and high temperature applications as well as being involved in the definition of the testing environment and KPIs.

Established in Cambridge, UK in 1946 and with several facilities across the globe, TWI (www.twi-global.com) is one of Europe’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, employing 740 scientists, technologists, administrative and support staff world-wide (523 in the UK and Europe) and with annual (2017) group turnover of £60 million. TWI works across all industry sectors with expertise in key aspects of materials, materials joining, structural integrity, static and dynamic testing and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and has representation on over 100 standards committees.

Involvement in the project:

TWI will be mainly involved in testing of CCM for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) systems, performing High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF), Cold Spray (CS) and Laser Cladding coating application processes of CCAs on different substrates and development of a smart coating system for online wear monitoring.

Tailorlux has been established in 2009 as a spinoff of the from the FH Münster (Münster university of applied sciences) and has since then established itself as renowned solution provider for concealed (invisible) marking of products and materials based on inorganic luminescent pigments (fluorescent particles, luminophores) and their detection with optical "key-lock sensors". The complementary sensor technology with the help of which these markings can be read and evaluated was also developed and optimized by Tailorlux in cooperation with external specialists.

Involvement in the project:

Tailorlux will lead the work on rare earth oxide chemistry development and design and manufacture of the spectrometric sensor.

Involvement in the project:

EMPA will deposit combinatorial thin films using Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) as well as performing in-depth micro-mechanical and microstructural material analysis.

ASAS will perform validation of the developed coatings in application for wear mitigation in the aluminium manufacturing industry.

The mission of MPIE is to conduct advanced materials research, especially on nanostructured metallic materials. MPIE is primarily financed by Max Planck Society and has a second partner – the Steel Institute VDEh. Through this public-private partnership MPIE carries out both fundamental research and considers the applications and commercial relevance of the developed materials.

Involvement in the project:

MPIE will be involved in the CCA design work package, via the use of CALPHAD method as well as testing for H2 embrittlement for both equilibrium systems and coatings.

ITC will be involved as ceramic manufacturer and user in the testing of optimised CCC coatings for resistance to high temperature as well as being involved in the definition of the testing environment and KPIs.

Within ArcelorMittal, OCAS/ARCM is as such in charge of R&D projects within the market of general industry for flat carbon steel. 90% of ARCM’s R&D activities are linked to 3 key themes: energy, environment and the durability of materials. ARCM develops new steel grades and coatings for the following markets: energy pipes and tubular products, heavy plates, white, brown, yellow and green goods, appliances, metal processing and construction

ARC will be involved both in the CCA design, testing for wear and H2 embrittlement, and as a steel manufacturer end user in the final stage of the project

The Fraunhofer Center for High Temperature Materials and Design (Fraunhofer) in Bayreuth, Germany, is part of the Fraunhofer society, which is the largest organization for application-oriented research in Europe with 26.500 employees in 72 institutes. Fraunhofer designs energy-efficient heating processes and thus contributes to the sustainable technological progress of society. It develops high-temperature materials, high-temperature components and high-temperature measuring methods, thereby optimizing thermal processes. Fraunhoferworks with systematic methods on a high scientific-technical level. The primary goal is the implementation of its developments in the industry.

Involvement in the project:

Fraunhofer will be leading the work package on the development of CCC materials for high temperature applications in the ceramic industry.

We provide more general solutions and services using machine/deep learning in the domains of data analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Semantic Search (SS), Image Recognition (IR), as well as distributed computing solutions for machine learning

Involvement in the project:

Aeonx will develop a Machine Learning (ML) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) search algorithm to discover CCA and CCC compositions.

Technovative Solutions is an UK based SME with deep expertise in developing knowledge-based solution for engineering processes. We also develop tools for process automation, decision support system, life-cycle analysis and life-cost analysis.

Involvement in the project:

TVS will develop FORGE identify SOA of materials and coatings used in critical components of energy intensive industries, and their operational limitations regarding the handling of aggressive environments, identify fail points in energy intensive industries.

Involvement in the project:

ULEIC will help producing and characterising arc melted specimens and perform CALPHAD calculations during the CCA design phase.
