A recording of the recent FORGE project webinar, ‘Novel Compositionally Complex Alloy (CCA) Coatings for Enhanced Wear Resistance' is now available to watch online.
The event, which took place on 29 May, 2024, received 150 registrations from 34 countries, with 70 people attending live on the day and providing over 20 questions for our expert speakers.
FORGE project consortium experts, Dibakor Boruah (TWI Senior Project Leader, Surface, Corrosion, and Interface Engineering), Deepak Sharma (Materials Innovation Centre (MATIC) Research Associate), and Alfonso Navarro López (OCAS N.V. (Onderzoeks Centrum voor de Aanwending van Staal, Industrial Engineer and Materials Scientist) provided details of the work of the FORGE project to develop wear-resistant compositionally complex alloy (CCA) coatings for use by industry.
CCAs can offer a range of tailored properties, such as exceptional tensile strength, ductility, fracture toughness, and wear and corrosion resistance. These properties allow CCAs to withstand harsh conditions and environments, including a range of temperatures, making them ideal for several industrial applications.
Those who missed the event, or who wish to revisit it, can watch a recording below and find out how the CCA deposition parameters were developed, how the composition was designed, the microstructural evolution and solidification behaviour in CCA coatings, and how the coatings performed to resist wear in simulated environments:
